Why This Exists

MISSION

Programme evidence infrastructure for climate-smart agriculture

Kenya has spent decades building advisory infrastructure — extension networks, SMS platforms, county programmes, digital advisory services. But none of it has ever been connected to answer the one question that determines whether any of it works.

MazaoX is not a new advisory channel. It is a new evidence layer — one that plugs into channels that already exist, links the data those channels already generate, and produces a verifiable record of what was advised, whether farmers engaged, and what outcomes resulted.

The design is built for the Kenyan CSA programme environment and intended for replication across comparable Sub-Saharan African contexts where the same evidence gap limits capital allocation and programme learning.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Evidence must be continuous,
not episodic

Annual surveys and self-reported adoption data are insufficient. Outcome evidence needs to be generated in-season, at programme scale, without placing new burdens on farmers or field staff.

2

Programmes should know what works before funding ends

The evidence system should inform programme decisions during implementation — not produce a final evaluation report 18 months after the last farmer interaction. By then the season is over and the learning is too late to use.

3

Capital follows credible evidence

Effective CSA interventions remain underfunded not because capital is unavailable — but because the evidence required to de-risk investment decisions does not exist in a form institutional investors can use. MazaoX produces the evidence form institutional capital needs.

THE TEAM

Who is Building MazaoX?

Founder

MazaoX is built by a Kenyan biochemist and data scientist with research experience inside East African agricultural institutions and intellectual property work for R&D-driven organisations. The system design emerged from working with the data that climate-smart agriculture programmes generate and observing how little of it ever gets connected to outcomes.

Mary leads MazaoX's product, partnerships, and pilot programme design and is based between Philadelphia and Nairobi.

Co-founder

MazaoX's product and operations build is led by a product leader with nine years of experience at the intersection of technology, scale, and social impact. Isabella specializes in sustainable food systems and social infrastructure.

She leads MazaoX's product vision, platform delivery, and day-to-day operations, bringing the rigor of consumer product thinking to the systems smallholder farmers actually use.

She is based in Washington, D.C.
